Chick-fil-A Will Stop Donating to Christian Organizations That Oppose Homosexual ‘Marriage’

Since 2012, after Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy said he believed marriage was the union between only one man and one woman, leftists called for a boycott against the fast food restuarant. But the chain became more successful than ever, with new stores opening in leftist cities like New York.

Mayor Bill de Blasio asked residents not to patronize the restaurant. Apparently, they didn’t following his suggestion.

The New York affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union defended Chick-fil-A in April after the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority barred the restaurant from opening at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport, citing First Amendment protections. San Antonio’s city council also voted to bar Chick-fil-A from that city’s airport.

Now, for reasons that don’t make sense, Chick-fil-A appeared to cave to the homosexual lobby and announced it will stop donating money to the “controversial” Christian organizations the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Paul Anderson Youth Home, and the Salvation Army. This comes after a leftist news site reported on Chick-fil-A’s charitable donations earlier this year.

From Fox News:

The brand issued a press release on its blog, The Chicken Wire, announcing the current focus for the Chick-fil-A Foundation. In the coming year, the chain’s charitable arm hopes to “deepen its giving to a smaller number of organizations working exclusively in the areas of education, homelessness and hunger.”

Chick-fil-A stopped giving money to several conservative Christian groups in 2012 following backlash to CEO Dan Cathy’s comments opposing gay marriage, but the chain continued to donate to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and The Salvation Army. According to a statement to Business Insider, the donations were due to a multiyear commitment the brand had made to both organizations, which ended in 2018.

Christians and other supporters patronized Chick-fil-A and made it one of the top fast food restaurants in the nation, despite being closed on Sundays. Will these same customers now boycott Chick-fil-A?

  1. I read the statement from Chick elsewhere. I’m not really buying it. The timing is a bit suspicious. Who kicks out the Salvation Army? If they don’t think their customers will look at this as caving, and if they don’t think the Left will consider and broadcast this as their victory, they are a lot more out of touch than we thought they were.

  2. Very unfortunate – another one “chickens out.” When will these corporations realize that caving in to the leftist bullies never works?

  3. Chick-Fi-A and Hobby Lobby were two stores that I have always looked up to and bragged on to everyone that would listen! This breaks my heart. It makes me think that the end is getting closer.
