Impassioned Gun-Owner Mark Robinson Becomes First Black Lt. Governor in North Carolina

Pro-gun North Carolina resident Mark Robinson went viral in 2018 when he gave an impassioned speech before the city council in Greensboro. He defended his right to own guns, even in the wake of mass shootings.

Robinson said he’s a law-abiding citizen, but every time there’s a mass shooting, “nobody wants to put the blame where it goes, which is at the shooter’s feet,” he said. “You want to put it at my feet. You want to turn around and restrict my right, constitutional right spelled out in black and white. You want to restrict my right to buy a firearm and protect myself from one of the very same people you’re talking about in here tonight.”

If you missed his speech to lawmakers, watch below:

On Tuesday, Robinson defeated Democrat Yvonne Lewis Holley 52-48 to become the state’s first black Lt. governor. The Republican will serve with Gov. Roy Cooper, a Democrat.

Robinson appeared on Fox News after he won the primary.

“Our message is so much more than the Second Amendment, which is a crucial issue,” he said. “It’s a message that touches on all the topics conservative North Carolinians are concerned with today.”
