If your children are in government schools, you might want to consider homeschooling. Parents in a Missouri school district trying to raise children to be decent citizens are up in arms over a book (absurdly titled, “It’s Perfectly Normal”) with pornographic material in middle school libraries. An excerpt:
The Amazon.com description of the book says that it “is a cutting-edge resource for kids, parents, teachers … and anyone else who cares about the well-being of tweens and teens.” It is also promoted as “providing accurate and up-to-date answers to nearly every imaginable question, from conception and puberty to birth control and AIDS.” A partial PDF of the book can be seen here.
Several positive reviews on Amazon note that the book discusses homosexuality and masturbation, with one person noting that “they talk about homosexuality before they even talk about puberty.” Another review states, “It explains many subjects besides just the mechanics of puberty, such as masturbation and homosexuality. If you intend to teach your children that such topics are shameful, this may not be the book for you.”
The PDF includes descriptions of different sex acts and promotion of abortion.
Now why would children need to know about sexual perversion and killing unborn babies? Note how irresponsible and illicit sex are coupled with abortion. “Empower” yourselves to seek pleasure, then get rid of the life produced through these acts.
It doesn’t matter which side of the aisle you’re on. It’s up parents, not government bureaucrats and leftist lobbyists, when and how to discuss these things. Parents, Christians or otherwise, are within their moral rights (and constitutional, for good measure) to teach that sex outside marriage, homosexuality, and killing your own children are wrong.
