Immigration Bigger Threat Than ‘Police Brutality’

I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives, and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor—it is the gift of God. – Ecclesiastes 3:12-13

It’s easy for anti-police types to pile on our civil servants, especially the lower paid rank-and-file, while ensconced in their safe spaces. Although reasonable people agree that terrorizing and destroying aren’t the solution to so-called police brutality, unreasonable people seem to get the most media attention.

The chaos happening in Baltimore right now is just an excuse, in my opinion, for adrenaline seekers, who couldn’t care less about the latest “outrage,” to steal, burn, and tear things up. No matter how ill-treated a person feels, he’s still accountable for his actions before the law and God. It’s a shame, especially for the church that was building a residence and counseling center for senior citizens, and for the seniors. Rioters burned it to the ground.

Liberals make it sound as though “racist” cops are out to get black Americans. Such headlines generate page views. I contend that family instability and fatherlessness are much bigger concerns. But who wants to read about those? Experts say that President Barack Obama’s plan to legalize millions of people who entered and/or remained in this country outside of the law is a greater threat to blacks than so-called police brutality or racial profiling. Peter Kirsanow, a black member of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, sent a letter to the president last year warning him of the consequences.

“It’s a bigger threat to black livelihood,” Kirsanow said recently. “When you look at the hundreds of thousands of blacks thrown out of work over the years as a result of the competitive pressure the downstream effects are profound.” He said the president and the Congressional Black Caucus “have refused to address” the social consequences of unemployment in the context of immigration.

The government shouldn’t be in the business of coddling us, but it should show loyalty to Americans of all races and give us priority in the job market. If the president wants to decrease resentment and put young black Americans to work, amnesty seems counterintuitive. Liberals are caught between the proverbial rock and a hard place. The diversity-obsessed crowd panders to blacks and Hispanic illegal aliens, but what’s good for one group isn’t necessarily good for the other. Low-skilled Americans need jobs that match their skills. We need fewer, not more, low-skilled foreign workers.

Liberals of all colors should stop pretending “police brutality” is a pressing and widespread problem and take up a cause that impacts law-abiding Americans trying to provide for their families. This is a huge issue with a politically incorrect fix: enforce immigration laws.

Pray and be watchful, Christians. There’s more trouble ahead, but we take comfort in Christ’s words: “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
