What accounts for the drop in abortions across the country? The pro-abortion side would say education and better access to birth control. The pro-life side would point to recently enacted state laws that protect unborn babies.
According to an AP survey, abortions have dropped by 12 percent since 2010. States that have done the most to protect unborn babies, including Indiana, Missouri, Ohio, and Oklahoma, have seen a decrease of over 15 percent.
Abortions have dropped in blue states, too. Pro-life measures include requiring women to see ultrasounds of their babies before they kill them, waiting periods, and requiring abortionists to have admitting privileges to nearby hospitals. Twenty-seven abortion mills in Texas have been shut down. Regardless of the reasons for fewer slaughtered unborn babies — pro-life laws, better prenatal technology, birth control, or a combination of all three — it’s good news.
“There’s an entire generation of women who saw a sonogram as their first baby picture,” Americans United for Life president Charmaine Yoest told the AP. “There’s an increased awareness of the humanity of the baby before it is born.”
