Why We Need More Governors Like Bobby Jindal

BobbyJindalPro-life governors can do what pro-life U.S. lawmakers can’t manage to do: defund Planned Parenthood.

In light of the undercover videos that show Planned Parenthood executives casually talking about selling aborted-baby body parts and other employees picking through those parts, Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana has ended the state’s Medicaid contract with the abortion mill. But that’s not all. An excerpt from The Blaze:

Bobby Jindal directed DHH [Department of Health & Hospitals] to investigate the activities of Planned Parenthood in Louisiana and also sent a letter to the state’s Inspector General and the FBI requesting their assistance with the investigation.

“In recent weeks, it has been shocking to see reports of the alleged activities taking place at Planned Parenthood facilities across the country,” he said. “Planned Parenthood does not represent the values of the people of Louisiana and shows a fundamental disrespect for human life. It has become clear that this is not an organization that is worthy of receiving public assistance from the state.”

If only our Congress had the will (and the votes) to block taxpayers’ money from going to a place that kills babies and sells the “products of conception,” which I’m told is against federal law. The Center for Medical Progress has caught Planned Parenthood and StemExpress discussing it, haggling over it, and poking through human remains for intact parts. What more do they need?

Some abortion advocates claim that taking tax money away from the abortion mill will put women’s health at risk. A number of people have already pointed out that Obamacare — the bloated and expensive health care law — mandates this coverage. For example, women can go to a gynecologist or primary care doctor for well-women exams and physicals. Obamcare covers this “preventive” care. Why would they need to go to a place that kills unborn babies?
