Christian Schools Issue Ultimatum Over 'Married' Homosexual Hires

675px-BelltowerunionuniversityIn protest of two schools with “Christian” in their descriptions compromising the word of God and caving to a debauched culture, Christian institutions will withdraw from the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) at the end of August if those schools remain.

WORLD reported that Eastern Mennonite University and Goshen College said they will hire faculty and staff in homosexual “marriages,” behavior that God called a sin. An excerpt (emphasis added):

Union University, citing a slow process and general discontent with the CCCU’s direction, this week became the first institution to withdraw from the group…Others are poised to follow, according to member presidents who spoke to WORLD, including Everett Piper, president of Oklahoma Wesleyan University. Piper said he supports Union’s departure and has continued membership only because he and a handful of presidents agreed to give the council until the end of August to make a decision.

“I will hold off on announcing our decision until then only because I gave my word to do so,” Piper said in a statement. “The CCCU’s bewildering desire for a drawn-out ‘conversation’ has led everyone (including me) to conclude they think the Church’s engagement in illicit sexual behavior is open for debate. Unfortunately, now, even if they ultimately do the right thing and remove EMU and Goshen from membership, the damage is done.”

We are commissioned by Christ to share the Gospel and make disciples. We’re to warn the unrepentant of what they face under God’s wrath and the good news of Christ’s forgiveness from that wrath. A Christian school hiring openly practicing — “married” — homosexuals is incompatible with this mission. Christians must show compassion to those dealing with this sin, but we don’t call sin, any sin, good, and attempt to normalize the behavior.

Imagine adulterers attempting to mainstream their behavior and using government force to penalize anyone who uttered disapproval….institutions calling themselves Christian, caving to the pressure and hiring people who openly cheat on their spouses. Or lie. Or steal. You can’t imagine it, can you? It’s absurd and unbiblical.
