The Center for Medical Progress released its ninth in a series of undercover videos on Monday. This video features Melissa Farrell, Director of Research for Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, admitting that the language in contracts for fetal issue procurement can be altered so it does not look like the organization is selling body parts.
In the video, Farrell is seen discussing some of the details of this type of transaction with two people she believes to be in the business of procuring fetal parts. The directors touts: “We probably have an edge over other organizations; our organization has been doing research for many, many years” on “the products of conception.”
As far as the actual transaction, Farrell informs the two: “We would definitely need to work that out in terms of budgeting, especially because the current situation with the regulations…I’m very particular about working with the language of the budgeting contract to where the language of specific to covering the administrative costs and not necessarily the per specimen, because of that borders on some language in the federal regs that is a little touchy.”
She described these sorts of details as being “baked” into contracts involving the sale of fetal remains.
Farrell also proudly let the two “buyers” know that their Houston facility (where they were meeting) is an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), explaining: “We knew we wanted to do abortions at 16 weeks and passed, and in a lot of those cases, an ASC is required, we went ahead and bumped it up. Just because business-wise, we wanted to be able to offer that to the community.”
Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue, who also serves on the Board of the Center for Medical Progress (CMP), responded to the new video:
For Planned Parenthood, the appearance of following the law is more important than actually following the law. As long as they can cook the books to make it appear they are in compliance, they can get away with whatever they want. Planned Parenthood has gotten to be quite good at this kind of deception.
CMP sent an open letter to leaders of Congress (currently investigating the nation’s number one abortion provider) today to highlight some of the key admissions by Planned Parenthood’s top executives, which have come to light through their undercover videos and through a letter PP’s president, Cecile Richards, submitted to congressional leaders last week:
1) That Planned Parenthood sells aborted fetal tissue, 2) That Planned Parenthood changes the abortion procedure in order to get saleable tissue, and 3) That there is knowledge and approval of these practices from the top of the organization on down.
We’ve developed a tool that allows you to send an email to executives at Planned Parenthood. Tell them exactly how you feel about them selling aborted baby parts! [Click here to send email.]
