A 17-year-old illegal alien, 15 weeks pregnant and in federal custody in Texas, wants to kill her unborn baby by Saturday.
Sources reported that she raised private funds to pay for the baby’s death (federal law prohibits federal funding for abortions, except in cases of rape, incest, or danger to the mother), but the shelter in Texas won’t release her to obtain the abortion.
The federal government said she can return to her own country and obtain the abortion, but the U.S. isn’t obligated to release an illegal alien in federal custody so she can get one in this country.
A district court judge ruled against the government and ordered the Trump administration to release the girl for this purpose.
But an appeals court just blocked that move. The court issued a stay against the ruling until the case could be heard on Friday.
