Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said the U.S. Senate will pass a resolution to block President Donald Trump’s border emergency declaration.
The president has little support among Republican lawmakers to get things done before the 2020 election cycle starts — a reality made worse with a Democrat-controlled U.S. House of Representatives.
A resolution is essentially a statement of Congress representing opinions of the body, and this one shows that the president doesn’t have his party’s support to strengthen border security, at least through this method. The declaration would shift unspent funds from the U.S. Department of Defense to pay for a border wall.
Senator Paul Rand said he agrees with the president on strengthening the border, but not through an emergency declaration.

A similar resolution has already passed in the House. If the legislation passes in the Senate and ends up on the president’s desk, he can choose to veto it.

Dear Sen. Paul, the same Congress that passes bills supporting infanticide will NOT fix the problems of border security. Congress is NOT part of the solution; they are part of the PROBLEM. Military funds are used to build walls in foreign countries. I fully support President Trump’s Emergency Declaration & use of $$$ to finish the Wall.
Sen. Paul,when we held both the House and Senate through Republicans did nothing to resolve out health care issues, our immigration laws or border security, WHY??????. I BELIEVE WE HAVE PROFESSIONAL POLITICIANS WHO CARE MORE ABOUT THEIR REELECTION THAN THE SAFETY AND WE’LL BEING OF OUR LEGAL CITIZENS. YOU WERE ELECTED TO SERVE SO HOW ABOUT START DOING THAT.
Funny how the Dems can get a majority support for the most out of touch things and yet our party will not pull together for the things we elected them to do. Mitch and Rand it’s time to tow the line guys. The dems will never work with this president, guys get what you can while you can.
