Would you believe that a student in a Georgia school district pretending to be the opposite sex wasn’t satisfied with a single-stall restroom accommodation?
Of course, you would. The “transgender” issue isn’t about rights. It’s about special privileges that trample on the rights, modesty, privacy, and safety of others who oppose the homosexual lifestyle and the delusion of overcoming biology.
Pickens County Public Schools in Georgia tried to accommodate two students, but the restroom issue is an in-your-face desire to shock and defy norms. Family Research Council president Tony Perkins wrote in the Daily Signal that residents in a small town called Jasper pushed back and let their feelings be known about the absurdity of it all:
In a fiery meeting that pit Superintendent Carlton Wilson against most of the town, moms and dads like Nathan Barfield were furious. Barfield says his two children are being made uncomfortable because a handful of students want access to any bathroom.
“Most people won’t say anything because they fear retaliation,” Barfield fumed. “[But] accommodations have already been made for transgender students. This is nothing but a political stunt to gain attention.”
A raucous applause broke out, punctuated by a series of “Amens!”
“Once you give into this, you’ll open the floodgates,” warned one mom.
Superintendent Wilson rescinded the school district’s “transgender” restroom policy. For now. According to the school district’s notice (PDF) about the policy, the district will “consult with law enforcement and other safety professionals so that these concerns may be addressed.”
He might reinstate the policy, in which case parents must continue to fight. Some should use the opportunity to take their children out of government schools.
