Nadra Enzi: I Oppose the Ahmaud Arbery Shooting — AND the ‘Black Men Hunted’ Election-Time Narrative

I’m an old school brother (read: community conservative) who has decades of experience in private apprehension and safety advocacy. As such, I’m not at all opposed to the common-law superpower called citizen’s arrest.

I think the Georgia duo who played “Punisher and Son” in their fatal citizen’s arrest attempt on Ahmaud Arbery were not only tactically wrong but may go to prison as a result of misguided zeal.

I also differ with the narrative, often conveniently aired during election time, that Black men are hunted down by racist cops and vigilantes.

NBA star LeBron James recently aired this allegation, and non-NBA stars, myself included, joined the discussion.

As a big, dark-skinned, vocal Black man in the South, trust me when I say I’d know whether racists were hunting me. And as a grassroots security consultant, I have a professional interest in tracking targeted assault on any group.

Too often, liberal elites and disgruntled working class Black folks conflate or inflate incidents to fit an agenda to get out the vote for Democrats and further demonize conservatives.

Neither objective adds an iota to Black male safety and survivability but does serve distant political interests far removed from our experience.

I don’t agree with the Ahmaud Arbery shooting nor the election-time narrative that Black men are hunted.
