A Leftist Student Mob at Yale Law School Tried to Intimidate and Bully This Christian Lawyer Who Fights for Our First Amendment Freedoms

Kristen Waggoner, a lawyer at Alliance Defending Freedom, was invited to speak at Yale Law School about civil liberties. Leftist law students tried to shut her down.

The Free Beacon reported that the event was a bipartisan panel. The Yale Federalist Society had invited Waggoner, a Christian, and atheist Monica Miller of the American Humanist Association.

“Both groups had taken the same side in a 2021 Supreme Court case involving legal remedies for First Amendment violations. The purpose of the panel, a member of the Federalist Society said, was to illustrate that a liberal atheist and a conservative Christian could find common ground on free speech issues.”

The leftist law students weren’t having it. They don’t want bipartisanship or civil discussions. These students are studying to become lawyers who’ll one day represent clients in our adversarial system or prosecute people who commit crimes. They must learn to listen to the other side, to debate, to think critically, and to defeat arguments with logic. These future lawyers apparently don’t care about such things. They began to protest as a law professor was introducing the guests.

“Ellen Cosgrove, the associate dean of the law school, was present at the panel the entire time. Though the cacophony clearly violated Yale’s free speech policies, she did not confront any of the protesters.”

The protesters eventually left the room but made so much noise outside, it was hard for the people who stayed to hear the panelists. Afterward, the police escorted the panelists out of the building.

“It was disturbing to witness law students whipped into a mindless frenzy,” Waggoner said. “I did not feel it was safe to get out of the room without security.”

Waggoner appeared on Fox News to talk about what happened.

“This wasn’t a protest,” she said. “This was physical intimidation and bullying that took place in the presence of Yale administration. But what’s more disturbing about this is that there’s audio, and Yale is blatantly misrepresenting what happened.” Yale administrators shouldn’t be cowering to mobs, Waggoner added. If invited back, she said she’d return to Yale in a heartbeat. Watch the clip below for more.
