Washington, D.C. – Following the swearing in of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, Star Parker, Founder and President of the Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE), released the following statement:
“The American people deserve a Supreme Court justice who will faithfully interpret the law and the Constitution. Judge Jackson’s past and her judicial philosophy brought all of that into question long before she was even nominated,” Parker said.
“Yes, this is the first Black woman sworn into the U.S. Supreme Court. But as I’ve said before, race is not a reality with one dimension. Despite what some might think, Black reality is as multifaceted and complex as is all of human reality, and the views of Black Americans cover the full scope of the political spectrum.”
Parker continued, “So what are the views of Judge Jackson? This is the person who, when asked during her confirmation hearing if she can provide a definition of a woman, responded with ‘I’m not a biologist.”
“When she was a member of the U.S. District Court for D.C., her decisions were routinely reversed by the Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. Even her own liberal judges would rule against her.”
“Her history of law practice is littered with questionable statements, decisions, and actions. By any reasonable measure, Judge Jackson is a liberal judicial activist who bends the law, the facts, and the Constitution to achieve a desired political goal.”
Parker concluded, “Less than a week after the overturning of Roe v. Wade, we see Justice Breyer officially step down at the age of 83 to make room for pro-abortion Judge Jackson at the age of 51. This is a lifetime appointment. Breyer served for 28 years. This shows that, even with last week’s victory, we must always be steadfast and on guard, ready to protect life and liberty.”
