Super-red state Florida might join half the country’s states to allow law-aiding citizens to carry concealed handguns without a permit.
The legislature recently introduced the bill, and Governor Ron DeSantis supports it. Among other things, the bill would allow residents and non-residents allowed to own handguns to carry those guns concealed without a permit if the person carries and displays ID if the police ask for the ID.

“It’s about time, the Brevard County sherriff Wayne Ivey said. “Our citizens deserve the right to protect themselves at all times. This bill is that big bite.”
Twenty-five states allow law-abiding residents to carry guns without obtaining a carry permit. Gun-rights advocates also support national reciprocity, where all states recognize other states’ concealed carry laws. If a resident can carry concealed in his state, he can carry concealed in all states.
