Anger Toward Abortion Advocates? Yes, But Also Compassion for Women Struggling with Abortion.

Star Parker, founder and CEO of the Center for Urban Renewal and Education, spoke about abortion in the post-Roe era on From the Median radio show.

Star, who will be the opening speaker at the Bringing America Back to Life Convention on March 10, was outside the U.S. Supreme Court after the justices overturned Roe v. Wade.

She wanted the court to outlaw abortion altogether and not just move the issue back to the states, but she said the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization ruling gives the body of Christ the opportunity to say, of course, we’ll be there for those in need and understand abortion is a hard decision. Now we can have a deep discussion about this issue in the states, an opportunity Roe took away 50 years ago.

Is this humanity in the womb? If so, we should make abortion not just illegal and unconstitutional, but also unthinkable. We have to unify at the national level.

Star made an analogy between having life and death states throughout the country and slave and free states when Dred Scott traveled with his master. Scott sued his owner for his freedom and lost, but we face a similar issue today — life or death, slave or free?

Will we end up fighting another civil war to settle the issue?

In this sense, pregnancy care centers can understand their role and be there for black women post-Roe. Former slaves had nowhere to go to get care, Star said, and then came Jim Crow. We must study our history so we don’t make the same mistakes.

Once a person has life, we need to move that person into liberty, Star said. But the same people who advocate death in the womb are the same people who want to deprive others of liberty, like keeping them in failing schools, neighborhoods, and health policy.

“The Christian community has given space to the government, and government has taken space from God,” Star said. We must be active in removing the barriers that prevent people from pursuing God’s plan for them.
