Louisiana Lawmakers OVERRIDE Governor’s Veto of Bills That Protect Children from Genital Mutilation and Puberty Blockers

It’s no surprise that a leftist politician has no interest in preventing so-called medical professionals from rendering children sterile.

But many Americans care very much.

That’s why the Louisiana legislature sent Governor John Bel Edwards, a Democrat, a bill that would protect children from the mindless and immoral “transgender” hysteria. He vetoed the bill in June, but lawmakers this week voted to override the governor’s veto.

Doctors who prescribe puberty blocks, hormone treatment, or mutilate the genitals of minors face loss of medical licenses for a minimum of two years. A person harmed as a result of the prohibited acts can sue for damages, effective January 1, 2024.

“Today, I was overridden for the second time, on my veto of a bill that needlessly harms a very small population of vulnerable children, their families, and their health care professionals,” Gov. Bel Edwards said in a statement. “I expect the courts to throw out this unconstitutional bill, as well.”

Protecting children from a deviant trend in which doctors cut off girls’ breasts and remove their ovaries and uterus because the girls wake up one day wanting to be boys is… unconstitutional?

We’ll take that kind of “harm” any day, Governor.

“Denying the truth that we are either male or female hurts real people, especially vulnerable children,” said Matt Sharp of Alliance Defending Freedom. “By overriding the governor’s misguided veto, the Louisiana Legislature has taken a critical step to protect children from radical activists that peddle gender ideology and pressure children into life-altering, experimental procedures and drugs.”
