We Need REAL Reform in the Food Stamp Program

So the government avoided a shutdown.

“The decision from Congress is, let’s kick the can down the road for the government to keep on spending while both our debt and our deficit grow,” Star Parker said on a segment of Straight Arrow News. “But funding the government is not the only thing Congress is spending your tax money on.”

We need real reform — solid, conservative solutions. Star said that even conservatives are split on how to limit the size and scope of government. But they face another looming deadline: the Farm Bill, which includes the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), better known as food stamps.

“It’s not a secret that food stamps are one of the largest of government welfare programs,” Star said.

Forty-two million Americans receive food stamp benefits, and the program needs an overhaul.

“The last time we saw reforms was in the 90s,” Star said.

President Joe Biden has boosted the food stamp program by more that 20 percent — the largest one-time increase ever. And he’s proud about that. A program designed for emergencies as a safety net has become a trap, Star added.

So what kind of country are we going to be? Listen to what Star has to say below or at Straight Arrow News.
