This American Came to DC to Celebrate the Supreme Court Overturning the ‘Law of the Land’ Roe v. Wade

The U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade (1973) and Planned Parenthood v. Casey (1992),  two decisions that allowed women to kill their unborn babies legally.

Seven justices on the U.S. Supreme Court in 1973 came up with a “right of privacy” in the Due Process clause —  previously unknown in the Constitution’s existence — for women to kill their babies for any reason in the first trimester, as long as the baby can’t live outside the womb.

Politico broke a story that revealed a leaked draft of a high court opinion in which five justices voted to overturn Roe and Casey in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case.

In the draft opinion, Justice Samuel Alito wrote:

“We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled. It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”

That statement appeared unchanged in the opinion released on Friday.

Star Parker and her team were in front of the high court when the decision came down. She spoke to a young man named Jaden about why he traveled to the nation’s capital.
