Ben Carson Won't Speak at Johns Hopkins

JohnsHopkinsDr. Ben Carson, an accomplished and straight-talking man, and former director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins, won’t give the commencement address at the university because of his “controversial” comments that marriage is a union between a man and a woman.

In a recent appearance on FOX News, Dr. Carson made the following true statements:

“[Traditional marriage is] a well-established, fundamental pillar of society and no group — be they gays, be they NAMBLA, be they people who believe in bestiality, it doesn’t matter what they are — they don’t get to change the definition.”

American students at an American university reject a man who believes what the whole world has believed for thousands of years: that marriage is a God-ordained institution. Homosexuality, a perversion just like bestiality and pedophilia, not to mention a sin, gets such special treatment that anyone who dares to publicly oppose it is unwelcome. We’re living in a world in which our grandparents would be shocked. Are we becoming desensitized to it?

Although the school didn’t rescind the invitation, Dr. Carson said he withdrew because his “presence is likely to distract from the true celebratory nature of the day. Commencement is about the students and their successes, and it is not about me.”
