Chelsea Mitchell, Who Lost Track Races to Boys, Says Women Are Going to Band Together and Stand Up

Chelsea Mitchell, a former track team member at a high school in Connecticut, lost races to boys pretending to be girls — boys allowed to join the girls’ team. Mitchell said she knew she’d lose these races. She said she couldn’t even hope to win.

Mitchell and three other girls at the school filed a lawsuit against a Connecticut athlete association and a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights.

The Trump administration sided with the girls and threatened to block federal funds to the state. But the Biden administration did not support them. The courts ruled against the girls. The full U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit agreed in February to rehear their appeal after a three-judge panel ruled against them.

Mitchell recently appeared on NewsMax to weigh in what’s happening to women’s sports. Does she think more women will speak out?

Yes, she said. We’ve already seen “a ton” of professional and collegiate athletes standing up for women’s sports. We’ve seen some legislators supporting these women. Watch the segment below.
