Christian and Muslim Parents in Maryland Just Asked a Court to Protect Their Right to Opt Their Kids Out of ‘Transgender’ Indoctrination

Two families in Maryland — one Christian and one Muslim — filed a lawsuit against the Montgomery County Board of Education, the superintendent, and others in May for violating their right to opt their kids out of “transgender” instruction — a right the board took away.

Becket Law, which represents both families, said the school board had assured parents that they’d be notified of objectionable material in the classroom and could opt their children out. But the board ceased the notice and opt-out options in March.

The parties in the lawsuit began oral arguments last week.

What exactly is in these books? From Becket Law:

For example, one book tasks three and four-year-olds to search for images from a word list that includes “intersex flag,” “drag queen,” “underwear,” “leather,” and the name of a celebrated LGBTQ activist and sex worker. Another book advocates a child-knows-best approach to gender transitioning, telling students that a decision to transition doesn’t have to “make sense”…

“Children deserve their parents’ guidance on how they learn about complex issues of gender identity, gender transitioning, and sexuality,” said Eric Baxter, vice president and senior counsel at Becket. “The School Board’s decision to cut parents out of these discussions prematurely destroys childhood innocence and wrongfully ignores the right of children to be guided by their own parents. The School Board should let kids be kids.”

Christians are low-hanging fruit to leftists. They do not care about offending Christians. They will try to cancel or sue anyone who opposes homosexuality.

For example, homosexuals make test cases of Christian business owners, who they know hold religious beliefs that oppose homosexuality. The man who complained about Christian florist Barronelle Stutzman for refusing to arrange flowers for his “wedding” to another man was a supposed friend of hers. He knew she was a Christian, so why didn’t he simply ask a different florist? Instead, he sicced the government on his “friend.” The district attorney went after Stutzman personally.

We’ve yet to hear about homosexuals suing followers of Islam for refusing to provide services for their “weddings” or “transitioning” celebrations. What are the implications of Muslims joining Christians in pushing back on the prevalent perversity taught in government schools?

Christians and Muslims believe different things about who Jesus is, so there can be no spiritual unity. But we do share some traditional values. Parents’ rights and opposition to homosexual indoctrination — this is our common ground.
