Every now and then, something good comes out of Hollywood.
Actor Denzel Washington spoke some common sense but hard truths about blacks and prison. Over 70 percent of black children are born to unwed mothers. They grow up living apart from their fathers. These children are effectively fatherless.
Children raised in female-headed houses are at higher risk of dropping out of school, getting pregnant, and ending up in the criminal justice system.
“If the father is not in the home, the boy will find a father in the streets,” Washington told The Grio. “I saw it in my generation and every generation before me, and every one since. It starts in the home…If the streets raise you, then the judge becomes your mother and prison becomes your home.”
When God and fathers are not present there is bound to be failure.
I am a huge D. Washington fan. Started soon after his evolvement with helping our Vets’ families in being able to have a place to stay while visiting their injured/recovering family member!
To Mr. Washington’s point, over 70% of the people America has incarcerated grew up without a father in the home! Sadly, he also is one of the very few to acknowledge the prime “causative issue” with those committing crimes, in both the black and white communities!
Here, truly, are the scary stats over the past fifty-odd years: In 1960, barely 2 percent of all American children, from all racial and ethnic backgrounds, lived with a never married parent. By 2008, 41 percent of black children, 18 percent of Hispanic children, and 7 percent of white children lived in a home with an unmarried parent.
Over this same period of time, from 1960 to 2008, the percentage of white adults that are married dropped from 74 percent to 56 percent, Hispanic adults from 72 percent to 50 percent, and black adults from 61 percent to 32 percent. Since that “legislating from the bench” SCOTUS decree in ’73, Americans have killed the equivalent of entire populations of several ‘countries’ through abortion – 61 million and counting.
How long can America’s cultural decline continue, before we resemble NOT America any longer? Think WE are not paying a price, already, for those 61+ million dead? How many Jonas Salk, or even Einstein types “might have been” in those millions, the ONE to cure cancer?
The soul of America was purchased by government entitlement programs. Blacks have become the
community most effected by this travesty because of the power of the nature of this world. Slavery was the
evil that God allowed for Israel to demonstrate their absolute dependence on His protection and power.
The Democrat Party recognized the legacy of discontent inflicted on the victims of slavery and contrived a political philosophy that used the memory of the injustice to be pacified by government handouts. The first decades of the twentieth century were a high water mark for abominable political error. Because the United States maintained a sound spiritual foundation based on equal justice, we avoided the total corruption of bad ideas for many years., surviving a hybridization of constitutional government and Marxism until today.
