“Lady Justice,” holding a set of scales, wears a blindfold for a reason. Justice is to be meted out without regard to who the person or group is. Sex, race, creed, or anything else that differentiates people isn’t supposed to factor into the administration of justice.
The exiting attorney general, however, can learn a thing or two about “blind justice.” Dr. Ben Carson says as much about Eric Holder. Administering justice blindly is a requirement of the attorney general position, but the partisan Holder brought his agenda. That is his legacy.
(Note: You might have heard some conservatives say people should be colorblind in an effort to dispute liberals’ racial politics. But I don’t think that’s possible or even necessary. The law should be colorblind.)
