Our southern border is not the only one we need to worry about. Controlling our border to the north is just as important.
“Northern states, including New York and Massachusetts, find themselves at the forefront of the migrant crisis, declaring states of emergency as they grapple with an influx of illegal immigrants,” wrote Blake Johnson, director of policy research at the Center for Urban Renewal and Education. “The shift from a border-centric immigration issue to a nationwide crisis underscores the need for comprehensive reform.”
In a six-page report (PDF) titled “Illegal Immigration and the Emerging Crisis in Northern States,” Johnson explores what’s driving this change since Joe Biden took office. He highlights “how illegal immigration has increasingly impacted northern states.”
Johnson discusses the changing landscape for migration, federal policies under Donald Trump, sanctuary policies and more. Read or download the full report here (PDF).
