Men in Arkansas with the fetish of pretending to be women will no longer be able to violate women’s safety, privacy, or sense of modesty in certain locations.
Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders recently signed a bill into law that bars men from entering women’s restrooms and locker rooms in domestic violence shelters, correctional facilities, or government buildings. These facilities must be designated for males or females only based on biological sex.
For individuals who encounter someone of the opposite sex in such entities have a private cause of action for damages and declaratory and injunctive relief against the entity.
Imagine this: you’re a beat-up and bruised woman with small children who’s just fled her home to escape her husband’s or boyfriend’s physical abuse. You don’t want to be around any man right now. A domestic violence shelter takes you in and you learn that your next-bed neighbor is a man in drag. He’s allowed to use the restroom and shower rooms you and your young daughters use.
“Women and girls should not be forced to sacrifice their privacy and safety to activists pushing gender ideology,” said Sara Beth Nolan, a lawyer at Alliance Defending Freedom. “Allowing men to invade girls’ intimate spaces—including locker rooms, sleeping areas, or restrooms—compromises their dignity. SB 486 ensures that girls’ spaces in domestic violence shelters, correctional facilities, and government buildings are not open to men, and it prioritizes privacy and safety of everyone.”
Gov. Huckabee Sanders in 2023 barred boys from using girls’ restrooms or locker rooms in government schools.
