Joseph Parker: Is the Coronavirus God’s Judgment for Abortion?

“Abortion provider Marie Stopes International, which operates across 37 countries, has warned of far-reaching impacts worldwide if women’s reproductive rights are not protected as governments limit citizens’ activities,” CNN reported last month (updated on 4/6/2020).

We must ask this question: What would be the far-reaching impact if women weren’t able to get abortions and abortion services were curtailed? Well, the impact would be that babies will be born alive and well.

The report also speaks of protecting women’s reproductive rights. Well, what about the need to protect the rights of the children from being murdered in their mother’s womb?

The report further stated: “‘Our initial projections warn that unless governments act now, up to 9.5 million vulnerable women and girls risk losing access to our contraception and safe abortion services in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The consequences would be devastating,’ it said in an online statement Friday.”

Some additional questions that should be asked include, in view of the fact that this report speaks of safe abortion services, what is safe about a procedure that, when carried out, a human being is always deliberately killed? And what will the devastating consequences be to women not being given the opportunity to abort their babies? The devastating consequences will be that children will be given the chance to be alive and live a productive life. How is that “devastating”?

The tragedies, the ironic truths, the lies, and the deception of news media in cooperation with the wicked abortion industry and its agenda are all sad realities.

Some governmental leaders have taken steps to order many non-essential businesses and activities to close for a time during the present pandemic, and understandably so. Yet some of those same leaders have allowed abortion clinics to continue to operate, claiming the services they provide are “essential.”

Now, think about that. Leaders have taken great steps to close down much of our society in order to take precautions to preserve human lives. Yet what does abortion do? It takes human lives.

And how can anyone think of the activity of killing children in the womb as being “essential”? It is not essential; it is wicked.

A recent article from the Washington Examiner stated that the coronavirus exposes Planned Parenthood’s biggest lie. A notice from a Pennsylvania branch of Planned Parenthood stated: “To ensure the health and safety of our patients, staff, and community, Planned Parenthood Keystone has temporarily closed all of its health centers for family planning visits effective March 23, 2020.” The notice went on to state that “Planned Parenthood Keystone is serving patients in Allentown, Wilkes-Barre, Warminster, Reading, York, and Harrisburg for abortion services only.”

If Planned Parenthood is committed to women’s health as it tries to claim that it is, why close the health care centers at this time and keep the abortion clinics open?

Another Planned Parenthood clinic in Pennsylvania said: “Effective March 25, 2020, we have temporarily closed our Health Centers to ensure the health and safety of our patients, staff, and community.” Yet, above that same notice, a sign read, “COVID-19 UPDATE: Our Abortion Centers are open!”

It is so tragic that people who are pro-abortion are both aggressive and dedicated to their sad cause. It’s also very sad and tragic that so many have come to the following conclusion: They believe that helping women avoid the perceived inconvenience of a nine-month pregnancy is much more important than birthing a precious baby girl or boy. And these are precious children who can live a life of blessing that will bless the whole world.

Now the reality is this. Pregnancy should never been seen as an “inconvenience.” It is a divine gift and experience from God our Heavenly Father, a gift and experience He gives to many women.

Many other women long to receive and experience this gift of pregnancy. Yet, for whatever reason, they may never receive it. Without question, the experience of bearing and carrying children in the womb is a great and precious gift. What a tragedy abortion is in view of the fact that it devastates pregnancy. And sadly, many women who choose to abort may never be able to have children again.

Attorney and minister Allan Parker, the president of the Justice Foundation, recently stated that the “coronavirus is a judgement of God for the shedding of innocent blood.”

Recently I heard a sermon on a radio broadcast, in which a Methodist pastor stated that the Lord had told her the coronavirus has come upon us because of abortion. Well, the Word of God clearly tells us that we reap what we sow. “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.” Galatians 6:7-8

Abortion is the deliberate taking of an innocent human life. Tragically, more than 60 million babies have died in the U.S. since 1973. We as a nation have sown many seeds of death through promoting and carrying out abortions. It appears that the coronavirus may very well be our nation reaping the harvests from the seeds of abortion down through the years.

Individuals, families, communities, states, and nations are all taking steps to be careful and wise to preserve health and life. Many of us are wearing masks, washing our hands, being careful to disinfect things, etc. Why? Because we want to preserve life and health.

Babies in the womb cannot take steps in their own behalf to preserve their lives. They neither have the understanding nor ability in their situation to do so. They are dependent on us. So, unless we value their lives, like we seem to be valuing the lives of other people in our present culture, how can they survive?

Unlike people who have succumbed to COVID-19, children who are being aborted are not people who unfortunately caught a disease and died. Aborted children are typically healthy, but someone decided to terminate them because she chose to.

Our sovereign Heavenly Father sees and knows what’s going on. God clearly was displeased in the Word of God when people sacrificed and killed their children. It was a terrible thing in the eyes of God. It was, in fact, unthinkable.

“Because they have forsaken Me and have made this an alien place and have burned sacrifices in it to other gods, that neither they nor their forefathers nor the kings of Judah had ever known, and because they have filled this place with the blood of the innocent and have built the high places of Baal to burn their sons in the fire as burnt offerings to Baal, a thing which I never commanded or spoke of, nor did it ever enter My mind.” Jeremiah 19:4-5

“Moreover, you took your sons and daughters whom you had borne to Me and sacrificed them to idols to be devoured. Were your harlotries so small a matter? You slaughtered My children and offered them up to idols by causing them to pass through the fire.” Ezekiel 16:20-21

Now, we need to always be mindful of this great truth. We serve a merciful and forgiving heavenly Father. In 1 John 1:9, we are told that if “we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Without question, if we confess and repent of our sin, including the sin of abortion, and ask for his forgiveness, He will forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. God is full of mercy and lovingkindness. If we simply come to Him and bring this matter, He will receive us, forgive us, and heal us.

How important it is that we come to recognize that killing our children should never be our choice? We must repent of this sin and stop aborting God’s precious children.

Great is the need for us as individual believers and us as the church to repent of our apathy, or negligence, of adequately and faithfully taking a bold stand for life and against abortion. Lord, forgive us and help us as your people to now stand up boldly and and speak up and speak out for life.

Again, we should be mindful of the sad fact that the abortion industry is very aggressive in furthering their agenda, it seems, continuously. We, the church, should be even more aggressive than the kingdom of darkness. Let us, through our prayers, our words, our witness, our actions, and our bold stance, seek to end the tragedy of legalized abortion — today.
