WATCH: Negroes and the Gun

Nicholas Johnson, author of Negroes and the Gun: The Black Tradition of Arms, spoke with Glenn Reynolds about the ideas in his book. Johnson said the non-violent emphasis of the 1960s-era civil rights movement obscured the tradition of blacks bearing arms for self-defense. The government has a history of taking guns away from black Americans and banning them from protecting themselves with guns, despite the Second Amendment guarantee.

All black Americans should say to a government seeking to restrict gun ownership for law-abiding citizens: NEVER AGAIN.
