Netanyahu: Israel Will Respond Decisively to the Horrific Murders

Israel_smallerPrime Minister Netanyahu stated that Israel would respond “decisively” on Tuesday following the brutal terror attack in a Jerusalem synagogue that killed four and left eight others wounded.

Netanyahu called for an emergency council meeting to occur in the coming hours. He stated, “We will respond decisively to the horrific murder of Jews who came to pray and were killed by despicable murderers.”

He stated that the attack was “the direct result of incitement being led by Hamas & Abu Mazen [Abbas], incitement which the international community is irresponsibly ignoring.”

The terrorists were cousins from East Jerusalem. Israeli police are currently searching their homes and questioning their families.

Israeli security forces have also set up roadblocks and increased forces in the Har Nof area.

Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas condemned the attacks, his office releasing a statement that “killing of worshipers in a synagogue and all acts of violence regardless of their source.” While Abbas denounced the attacks, he connected them to “incursions and provocations by settlers against the al-Aksa Mosque.”

Intelligence Minister Yuval Steinitz also placed blame on Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas stating, “The hands that held the axes were those of the terrorists, but the voice is that of Abu Mazen [Abbas]… Whoever calls for Muslims to defend Al-Aksa Mosque by all means against the Jews was directly responsible for the horrible pogrom at the synagogue in Har Nof, and the wave of attacks and bloody riots in Jerusalem.”

Public Security Minister Yitzchak Aharonovitch warned Israeli citizens that “We are not in an easy period, a period of terror attacks” adding that he “can not promise that there won’t be another terror attack, but I can I promise we are doing everything we can to prevent it.”
