Netanyahu: Talks with World Powers are Advancing on a Path Set by Iran

Netanyahu_Obama (1)Prime Minister Netanyahu addressed reported “progress” in nuclear talks between world powers and Iran on Thursday, warning of the threat nuclear Iran poses.

Negotiations continued this week and will resume in Geneva later this month, a deadline in March for a framework agreement to be implemented by June of this year.

According to reports from diplomats in the negotiations, a reported “compromise” was discussed during this round of talks that would allow Iran to keep all of its 10,000 centrifuges in operation if they are reconfigured to reduce less enriched uranium. Limits would reportedly be placed on Iran’s storage and use of uranium gas and Iran would agree to ship most enriched uranium out of the country.

The reports released by the Associated Press have not been confirmed nor refuted.

Earlier this week, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani reported that negotiations have been successful and that Iran and world powers “have narrowed the gaps”. Rouhani stated that there were still “some issues and differences remain’ and that “the West has realized that it should recognize the rights of the Iranian people”.

Prime Minister Netanyahu stated on these reports that, “Iranian President Rouhani said that the talks with world powers are advancing on a path set by Iran. This path brings Iran to be a threshold nuclear power with international consent, with all the economic easing [Tehran has] demanded… This is very dangerous for the state of Israel, dangerous for the region, and dangerous for world peace.”
