Nigeria Claims Agreement Over Abducted Girls Reached With Boko Haram

BokoHaram_agreementNigeria’s defense chief announced a ceasefire between Nigeria and the Islamist group Boko Haram, along with a deal over the 200 abducted girls who were taken six months ago.

The abduction of the girls sparked a worldwide outcry.

President Jonathan Goodluck has suffered for his slow response to the kidnapping as well as his handling of Boko Haram in general.

A senior Nigerian source said that there are indeed talks between Nigeria and Boko Haram, but it remains unclear which faction of Boko Haram is being negotiated with.

The source said: “Commitment among parts of Boko Haram and the military does appear to be genuine. It is worth taking seriously.”

What do you think? Is there much chance that the abducted girls will see freedom soon?
