These NY Gun Owners Did What?

In protest of New York’s so-called SAFE Act, which requires that guns classified as assault weapons be registered with the government, the gun owners burned registration forms.

Last year, Star Parker sounded this warning to blacks who support President Barack Obama’s attempts to impinge on our Second Amendment right:

Well, I’d say they need to revisit their history – black history, black slave history, black Jim Crow history — and they should visit the histories of other tyrant nations where we had people like Hitler and Stalin and Mao. Every single time there is someone who wants to take away all other rights of the people, the first right they take away is your right to bear arms.

I was pleased in 2008 when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled Washington, D.C.’s stringent law against handguns unconstitutional. Though divided 5-4, the court properly interpreted the law and decided accordingly. Law-abiding black Americans ought to be the last ones to support the government’s attempts to take from the people their right to self-defense.
