Pastor Robert White: ‘We are asking American Baptist College to return to Scripture’

Pastor Robert White of Freedom Church in Arlington, Texas, is one of the men who participated in the National Baptist Fellowship of Concerned Pastors Press Conference, which you can view in its entirety here.

Among other things, these pastors are troubled by what’s happening to the church. The American Baptist College recently invited a female bishop “married” to another woman to speak to its Christian students.

As the homosexual lobby continues to use the government to impinge on our rights, Christians across the country must stand their ground and speak out. A few quotes from Pastor White’s remarks:

“Without the bible as our standard for truth, we step onto a slippery slope of immorality and inconsistently that spans far beyond the issue of same-sex relationships. Today we are standing concerned that American Baptist College has publicly decided to abandon truth. Truth that is inerrant and inspired by God to all generations. Truth that speaks to this very issue. Without the bible as our base, we allow our own sinful and limited minds to relativity set the standard of morality.

“The road this leads us down in dangerous. We are creating an environment where pastors can label themselves as evangelical or Baptist, while at the same time building idols in their congregations that look nothing like the God of the bible.

“We are asking American Baptist College to return to the Scripture and to return to the conviction of this convention.

“Lastly, and I claim this concern personally, I have a concern for the LGBT community. The God of the Bible is the God of love. 1 John 4:8 tells us that God is love. It was that very love that caused Him to give us the principles and parameters of Scripture that govern our lives. As the manufacturer of humanity, He determines and dictates the purposes and practices of humanity. Our failure to comply will ultimately result in malfunction and misery.

“American Baptist College has chosen to suppress this love and truth from people who may not obtain it elsewhere. By disguising this heresy as welcoming and affirming, American Baptist College is actually doing persons of same-sex attraction a disservice. Several incidents in Scripture shows Jesus as loving, compassionate, and forgiving to people and at the same time vehemently opposed to the sin that they live in. The woman caught in adultery in John 8 provides a beautiful example of grace and truth. Jesus rescues her from the penalty of her sin, and at the same time releases her from the power of her sin when He tells her, ‘go and sin no more.'”

We will feature more pastors and quotes in the days ahead.

  1. The Word of God clearly states we are to love the sinner and hate the sin. That which is done in darkness shall be brought forth into the light. We are not called to accept or preach that same sex love is acceptable because it’s not. It is an abomination in the eyes of God and we are causing others to live in sin that do it and we are sinning against God ourselves by accepting into the body of Christ. We need to pray for those who are doing so and to hold ourselves separate from it.

  2. First the Presbyterians, and now the Baptists. It looks they are all pushing for schisms within their congregations. Is that the new “in thing” for Christian churches?
