Archive: Reparations for Black San Fran Residents? This Would Undermine Personal Responsibility.

Originally published in June 2023.

The San Francisco African American Reparations Advisory Committee recommends that the city give black residents a one-time payment of $5 million as reparations for slavery.

California wasn’t a slave state, but whatever! And the city doesn’t have the money, anyway.

Star Parker, founder and president of the Center for Urban Renewal and Education, appeared on Straight Arrow News, to discuss this topic. She talks about her life, which she said was a mess and had nothing to do with her ancestors. Star said she didn’t need reparations to turn her life around. She needed a wake-up call.

Christians told Star that the way she was living was unacceptable to God. She found God and turned her life around.

“The problem with the idea of reparations is that it redirects attention away from an individual’s responsibility for their own unique lives,” she said. “And it redirects attention in such a way to encourage individuals to believe that a collective problem from the past is the cause of all their individual problems in the present.”

Restitution for damages is a legitimate principle, Star said, but only in the very real here and now, not when it’s pushed to the abstract past.

Reparations aren’t a counter to racism, Star said. Reparations and racism have more in common than people realize. How? Watch the full video at Straight Arrow News.

  1. Personal Responsibility, the Correct way to Repairournation!
That’s, Repair Our Nation, Not reparation.
You are a Brilliant Woman Star Parker, Than You!

  2. I am curious how California will determine if an applicant for reparations has, as Jesse Jacksons likes to say “Slave Blood”.
Do the Californians know that there were Free Black people in Colonial America?
Do the politicians know that there were slaves who joined the Confederate military to gain their freedom?
How will they prove that a person or family even had enslaved relatives?
If their are reparations given in massive amounts are
the recipients aware they will not be eligible for any government assistance based on income?
How will the vote trolling politicians explain that yes they have authorized massive reparations but they have no money in the State coffers to pay anyone?
