Do black Americans understand that “diversity, equity, and inclusion” (DEI) initiatives are harmful? Star Parker explains how we lost ourselves in a recent episode of Straight Arrow News.
Star said DEI is the like the branches and the leaves of a tree of multiculturalism, and multiculturalism grew out of the root of affirmative action. These sound good, but they are not good things. They are inconsistent with the U.S. Constitution.
“In fact, they’re so out of the Constitution that they should have been challenged in court a long time ago,” Star said. The Trump administration is doing the right thing, she added. The founding document guarantees certain freedom: of speech, the press, and religion.
We also have the right of free association. But leftists decided to go a step further and start forcing association. We ended up with affirmative action, a euphemism for racial discrimination. Under such practices, we’re judged by our race, even if we, as black Americans, are the supposed beneficiaries. But wrong is wrong.
We took a wrong turn back in the 1960s, Star said. One day, maybe everyone will be judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin, as Martin Luther King Jr. dreamed.
