Star Parker Says Nikki Haley Was Right About What Caused the Civil War

Was the Civil War about more than slavery? Star Parker and presidential candidate Nikki Haley think so.

In her latest segment on Straight Arrow News, Star clarifies the issue.

When asked at a campaign event in New Hampshire what caused the war between the states, Haley said the cause was “about how government was going to run — the freedoms and what people could and couldn’t do.”

That is a true statement. But leftists were up in arms because Haley didn’t mention the “S” word. She later said that of course, slavery was a clause, but the bigger issue was about the role of government in our lives.

“As someone who authored a book entitled ‘Uncle Sam’s Plantation: How Big Government Enslaves America’s Poor and What We Can Do About It’ — yeah, that’s me — and whose ancestors were slaves — yeah, that’s me — I must say I believe Haley was actually right in her first response,” Star said.
