Will the Supreme Court Protect Confused and Peer-Pressured Children from Puberty Blockers and Cross-Sex Hormones?

The U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments on Wednesday in a case that involves a Tennessee law that bans harmful puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones for children, which could render them permanently sterile.

President-elect Donald Trump campaigned on the “transgender” issue. In one of the ads, the Trump campaign targeted Kamala Harris for supporting taxpayer funding for “transgender” care for prisoners and detained illegal aliens. The closing statement for some of the ads was that “crazy liberal” Harris is for they/them and Trump is for you. The ads likely helped Trump win. Voters are tired of the crazy.

Conservatives and others who oppose puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones for children might be encouraged by the 6-3 conservative high court. This is the same court, however, that ruled in favor of a male funeral home director who wanted to pretend to be a woman at work over the objections of the Christian owner.

Justice Neil Gorsuch, appointed by President-elect Trump in his first term, wrote the majority opinion in Bostock v. Clayton County (2020). The court held that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 barred discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and “gender identity” in employment.

The Biden-Harris administration has been citing Bostock ever since to issue mandates outside of employment, including to allow boys access to girls’ restrooms and to force Christian doctors to violate the tenets of their faith.

Justices Sam Alito, Clarence Thomas, and Brett Kavanaugh dissented in Bostock. Given the court’s history on this issue, it’s anyone’s guess what will happen.
