Yes to Abortion ‘Rights’ But No to Gun Rights — Is That What Virginia Voters Really Want?

The people of Virginia got what they wanted…apparently. They voted in a leftist legislature to go along with their leftist governor, and these politicians want to keep abortion strong as they weaken gun rights.

The U.S. Supreme Court contended in Roe v. Wade that women have a “right of privacy” to kill their unborn babies, a right that was unknown in the U.S. Constitution up to that point. But the right to keep and bear arms is explicit in the Constitution and so important to the founders and for every law-abiding citizen of this great country, it has its own, clear, enumerated place in the founding document. The Second Amendment protects the people from their government.

Governor Ralph Northam — who appeared in blackface in the past, tried to deflect, and suffered no political consequences for it — is ready and willing to sign measures that impinge on the Second Amendment right of law-abiding Virginia residents. He also supports amending the state constitution to add the so-called right of women to kill their own unborn children and will eagerly sign pro-abortion measures into law.

From the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ):

The abortion machine is going state by state trying to tear up any remnants of any pro-life laws. Planned Parenthood alone has a multi-billion-dollar empire. That is what we are going up against.

After the disgusting New York live-birth abortion law passed in 2019, which legalized abortion up to the moment of birth, some states like Virginia are trying to take it even further.

Pro-abortion legislators in Virginia are trying to insert abortion as a “right” in their state Constitution. The proposed pro-abortion amendment, sponsored by new Senate Majority Leader Dick Saslaw to the Virginia Constitution reads:

“That an individual’s right to personal reproductive autonomy is central to the enjoyment of life and liberty and shall not be denied or infringed upon unless justified by a compelling interest of the Commonwealth and achieved by the least restrictive means.”
