The Trump Administration Directs Federal Agencies to Protect Religious Expression in the Workplace

The Trump administration on Monday issued guidelines that direct federal agencies to take affirmative steps to protect religious expression in the workplace.

The Office of Personnel Management made it clear that the workplace will not be hostile to religious employees in government service. An excerpt (PDF):

The memo affirms longstanding constitutional and statutory protections for religious expression and instructs agencies to review internal policies to ensure compliance with the law and the Trump Administrationʼs broader commitment to restoring religious liberty in government institutions.

President Donald Trump in February issued an executive order to eradicate anti-Christian bias in the federal government. The order cited the U.S. Constitution, the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act, and the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

President Trump also established the Religious Liberty Commission “to advise the White House Faith Office and the Domestic Policy Council on religious liberty policies of the United States, including by recommending steps to secure domestic religious liberty and identifying opportunities to further the cause of religious liberty around the world.”

During his first term in office, President Trump expanded the religious rights of individuals and organizations, but Joe Biden reversed them. For example, the Biden administration rescinded protections for medical professionals who don’t want to kill unborn babies or mutilate children.

Leftists are appalled by the Trump administration’s guidance to federal agencies in a way they were not appalled when the Obama and Biden administrations issued guidance ordering agencies to discriminate against individuals based on race and sex and to pretend that men in drag were women.
