What Trump Said About Rubio's Future Might Surprise His Critics

A news source said yesterday that Sen. Marco Rubio’s chances in the Florida primary were “especially dire.” The truth was in the poll numbers, and voters made their not-surprising choice — certainly a disappointing one to Sen. Rubio and his supporters. He lost to Donald Trump by almost 20 percentage points.

Sen. Rubio dropped out of the GOP presidential nominee race last night.

“While we are on the right side. this year we will not be on the winning side,” he said. Sen. Rubio alluded to Trump and his supporters. “I understand all of these frustrations, and yet when I decided to run for president, I decided to run a campaign that was realistic on all of these challenges. From a political standpoint, the easiest thing to have done in this campaign is to jump on all of those anxieties. But I chose a different route, and I’m proud of that.”

Gov. John Kasich of Ohio won his state yesterday, with Trump emerging victorious in Florida, Illinois, North Carolina, the Northern Mariana Islands, and most likely Missouri, although the winner hasn’t been called yet.

What did Trump have to say after he beat his younger rival in that rival’s home state?

“He’s smart, and he’s got a great future.”
