GOP Drama: What Happened in Colorado?

So what exactly happened in Colorado on Saturday?

The state’s GOP decided last summer not to hold a traditional presidential straw poll to select a candidate for 2016. Sen. Cruz gained delegates earlier this month and picked up the rest at the state convention on Saturday. Sen. Cruz captured the state’s 34 delegates. This reportedly is allowed under the rules.

Still, it probably doesn’t sit right with Donald Trump supporters who wanted a more direct role in the process. Naturally, Trump doesn’t like it. He called the system “rigged” and “crooked.”

An excerpt from the Washington Times:

“They’re going absolutely crazy because they weren’t given a vote, this was given by politicians, it’s a crooked deal, and I see it,” Mr. Trump said on “Fox and Friends.” “I’ve gotten millions … of more votes than Cruz, and I’ve gotten hundreds of delegates more, and we keep fighting, fighting, fighting, and then you have a Colorado, where they just get all of these delegates, and it’s not a system.”

“There was no voting. I didn’t go out there to make a speech or anything — there’s no voting,” he said.

According to The Denver Post, Sen. Cruz expects a “battle on the convention floor…to see who can earn a majority of the delegates.”
