Sen. Marco Rubio Thinks Parents Should Use This to Pay for Family Leave — But Is It a Good Idea?

Senator Marco Rubio has proposed a measure that would allow parents to make early withdrawals from their Social Security benefits to pay for parental leave time.

The selling point: no new taxes to finance this plan.

Is this a good idea? The Conservative Review’s Deneen Borelli and the Independent Women’s Forum’s (IWF) Hadley Heath Manning discussed the issue on Fox Business with Charles Payne. Manning said Sen. Rubio’s bill is based on a policy proposal from IWF — no new taxes, and each worker may opt in to the plan. She said it’s a conservative way to address paid family leave.

But Borelli has doubts about the proposed legislation. Watch the brief clip to hear why this might not be a good idea.
