Governor Mike DeWine has signed a bill to allow law-abiding residents over 21 to carry handguns concealed without a permit. The law no longer requires residents to disclose to a police officer that they’re carrying a handgun unless the officer asks. The law will take effect 90 days after the governor’s signature.
Gun-rights supporters believe the whole country should be a Constitutional Carry and national reciprocity union — no permits to carry concealed guns, and law-abiding citizens may travel anywhere in the country carrying their guns concealed.
Ohio State Senator Niraj Antani, who co-sponsored the bill, said that the U.S. Constitution “does not require you to have a permit or license to exercise the rights that are prescribed in the constitution. Among those rights is the second amendment which is the right to bear arms.”
The NRA thanked Governor DeWine “for signing this critical bill that upholds the Second Amendment in Ohio, for the benefit of law-abiding citizens.”

Still believe it’s a good idea to let the officer know you have a gun. Better yet, keep it in plain sight at a traffic stop. A tense situation could easily be made worse.
