Parents Will Continue to Fight Over the Values and the Mission of Education We Used to Share

The parents’ rights movement began in earnest during the COVID-19 pandemic, when parents found out what their kids were really dealing with in schools. Parents were frustrated with things like prolonged school closures, mask mandates, racially divisive instruction, and “transgender” ideology.

Parents’ rights groups like Moms for Liberty grew out of this groundswell. Now parent’s rights is a hot political topic. Star Parker talked about this issue on a recent segment of Straight Arrow News.

Remember the good old days, when government schools taught reading, writing, arithmetic, and civic education — learning about how the government works and how to be a good citizen of this great country? You might be old enough to remember.

The challenges kids face today “are vastly different from the ones we faced when we were children,” Star said. “There used to be established trust between schools and homes, parents and teachers. We used to all agree that topics of sex and other adult content had no place in the classroom. Now it is a battle to reach that once-shared understanding.”

That battle will be uphill. The so-called Southern Poverty Law Center just labeled Moms for Liberty, a parents’ rights advocacy group, an “anti-government extremist group”!

“For the Left, that is actually not the worst label they’ve used for parents in recent memory, considering the fact that President Biden and the Department of Justice had labeled many parents fighting for the same rights as domestic terrorists just two years ago,” Star said.

She also said this coming school year, an election year, is pivotal. Watch Star’s segment below or on Straight Arrow News for more.
