Bernie Sanders Criticized Trump for Ignoring ‘Poor and Working-Class’ Low-Level Offenders When Granting Pardons — the Pardoned Alice Johnson Had This to Say

President Donald Trump pardoned Alice Johnson (who was featured in a Super Bowl commercial), a woman sentenced to life in prison without parole for a non-violent drug offense. That same woman recently appeared on Fox News after Sen. Bernie Sanders criticized the president for granting clemency and commuted sentences to the wealthy and connected and implied that he ignored poor and working-class low-level offenders.

The president pardoned controversial figures like inside-trader Michael Milken and former NYPD Commissioner Bernie Kerik, and commuted former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s sentence.

Johnson, who’s neither rich nor connected, responded to the senator’s remarks.
