Biden’s Gun-Grabbing Begins — Where Will It End?

We knew it would happen. Attempting to infringe on individual’s Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms is what leftist politicians do. President Joe Biden just unveiled several upcoming executive actions that will erode the right of law-abiding citizens to protect themselves from others who seek to harm them, including their government, with firearms.

President Biden will nominate a gun-control advocate as the new director of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. David Chipman is an adviser for the gun control advocacy group named for former Representative Gabrielle Giffords. In 2011, a man named Jared Lee Loughner attempted to kill Giffords and succeeded in murdering six others. Since her shooting, Giffords has advocated gun control.

Citing the effort to reduce “gun violence,” the White House also seeks to tighten restrictions on “ghost guns” and regulate a device known as a stabilizing brace, which allows a pistol to operate as a short-barreled rifle. The president is also pushing for a national “red flag” law that will allow family members and law enforcement to seek a court order to block “people in crisis” from having access to their guns “if they present a danger to themselves or others,” a broad definition.

These might sound like reasonable measures, but the government absolutely will not stop there. The administration will attempt to erode gun rights across the board. That’s why state legislatures must act.

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey just signed a bill into law that preempts federal gun-control laws. The measure bars local governments from enforcing such laws or aiding the infringement of the Second Amendment.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott wrote on Twitter that Arizona’s new law “is what I’m seeking for Texas—a law to defy any new federal gun control laws. It will make Texas a Second Amendment Sanctuary State. Legislation is moving in the Texas House and Senate. I look forward to signing it.”

Leftist politicians know that gun laws won’t stop criminals. They also know that law-abiding people will obey the laws. Each level of infringement potentially could render individuals defenseless in active shooter situations.
