Biden’s Political Speech at Charleston Church — He Seems Intent on Dividing Americans

President Joe Biden recently gave a political speech at the Mother Emanuel A.M.E. Church in Charleston, South Carolina. This is the same church where a white man pulled out a gun and started shooting black congregants who’d just prayed over him at a Bible study. He murdered nine people.

“Rather than turning against one another in the wake of such an unspeakable atrocity,” Star Parker said on Straight Arrow News, “the people of South Carolina united in their commitment to bring the deranged shooter to justice and to honor the beautiful souls who lost their lives that day. They held vigils, they prayed, and they healed their community.”

Leave it up to Joe Biden to use this horrific moment as an opportunity to campaign.

Star said that Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, who played a crucial role in helping the community and the state in coming together, was deeply offended by Biden’s political speech before the congregation (why did they invite him?).

“To use the pain of Mother Emanuel to not only further divide Americans, but seek to score political points, is disrespectful, inappropriate, and beneath who we are,” Sen. Scott said. “The story of Mother Emanuel is bigger than politics. It’s the power of Matthew 5:44 — the power of forgiveness — that unified our state and nation.”

Presidential candidate Nikki Haley, former governor of South Carolina, also was offended.

“She found it ironic that the speech was delivered by a political figure — in her words — ‘who palled around with segregationists in the ’70s and has said racist comments all the way through his career,'” Star said.

Star said that Biden’s speech and its reaction demonstrate “why it is important that our nation restores the vision of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. That vision that he articulated 60 years ago, that we must be a country where equal opportunity for all is a reality, and all people are judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin.”

Is this what America wants — the continued divisiveness?
