Rep. Cori Bush, a leftist, wrote on Twitter that the Fourth of July’s freedom is about freedom for white people only. “This land is stolen land and Black people still aren’t free.”
Nice sentiment, coming from a free black woman living in a free country who was elected to America’s highest legislative body and collecting a salary from American taxpayers.
Rep. Byron Donalds, a conservative from Florida, said everybody knows that this country has a past. “But we are the freest country in the world. If you want to talk about a people being oppressed, go ask the Uyghurs what’s going on in China. Black people have been able to thrive in the United States for more than 100 years. We’ve gone through civil rights. We’ve gone through Jim Crow. We’ve gone through Reconstruction.” Black Americans have progressed. He calls what Rep. Bush tweeted “disgusting.” Watch the clip below for more.

It’s remarkable how African-Americans have defined freedom not only at home but for the world in general.
