We can applaud the Baltimore woman who was so horrified her son was involved in the Baltimore riots that she hit him upside the head, but tough-love mothers aren’t enough.
All children need their fathers. Boys, in particular, need the physical toughness of a father’s love. Young males need a masculine influence, preferably from their biological fathers, to keep them in line and model what strong, responsible manhood looks like.
This is one of many reasons why America must reverse the fatherless-family trend and encourage people to marry before having children and to stay married.
Fox’s Neil Cavuto spoke with three women about the Baltimore mother: Dr. Robi Ludwig, FreedomWorks Outreach Director Deneen Borelli, and Sabrina Schaeffer. They commended the Baltimore mother for being accountable and holding her son accountable.
Borelli and I share at least one childhood experience: spankings! I received “correction” from both my parents, as did my siblings. Although spanking children is politically incorrect these days, it certainly gets the point across faster and makes a stronger impression. Children need discipline (teaching), which can include corporal punishment.
