Guess Which Group a Black Congressman Doesn’t ‘Strongly Encourage’ to Apply for Internships

capitol_2“While Congressman Ellison encourages all individuals to apply, applicants with strong ties to the Fifth District or Minnesota are preferred,” the page states before adding one final note: “People of color, LGBTQ individuals, women, and people with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.”

That’s how Rep. Keith Ellison advertises for interns.

As the Daily Caller noted, by process of elimination, the group not strongly encouraged to apply for an internship in his office are white men with no disabilities who’re attracted to women.

An earlier version from the intern page doesn’t include the “strongly encouraged” language but did include this:

“We do not discriminate based on race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or disability.”

But that sentence no longer appears on Rep. Ellison’s internship page.

Can you imagine the global fallout if a white lawmaker “strongly encouraged” able-bodied, heterosexual white men to apply?
